Ship vibration can exacerbate the breaking and irregularity of the stern waves, thereby increasing wave-making resistance. At the same time, vibration is also an important cause of navigation noise. After vibration isolators effectively reduce ship vibration, they help to improve the stern flow field, reduce wave-making resistance and navigation noise, and improve the propulsion efficiency and economy of the ship.
The main engine of a ship generates periodic excitation forces during operation. These forces are transmitted through the ship’s structure, causing the ship to vibrate. Installing vibration isolators between the main engine and its base can effectively isolate the vibration generated by the main engine and reduce the transmission of vibration to the ship’s hull.
For the ship’s propulsion system, such as the propeller, it generates uneven hydrodynamic loads when working, which can cause vibration in the shafting system. Installing vibration isolators at the support locations of the shafting system can attenuate the vibration of the shafting system, improving the stability and reliability of the propulsion system.
During navigation, the ship’s upper deck is subjected to wave forces, which can cause it to sway and vibrate. Installing vibration isolators at the connection points between the upper deck and the main hull can reduce the impact of wave forces on the upper deck, decrease the vibration and noise in the living and working areas, and improve the comfort of the crew and passengers.
Continuous vibration and impact subject the ship’s hull structure to alternating stress. Over the long term, this can easily lead to fatigue cracks in the hull structure, affecting the safety and service life of the ship. By using vibration isolators to reduce vibration transmission, the stress level of the hull structure can be lowered, reducing structural fatigue damage.
Ships are equipped with a large number of precision instruments and equipment, such as navigation and communication equipment, which are very sensitive to vibration and impact. Steel wire rope vibration isolators can provide vibration isolation protection for these devices, preventing damage or performance degradation caused by ship vibration and ensuring their normal operation.
